Stained glass brings together all of Maria Vaiedelich’s core affinities: architecture, color, and light.
Her process is intuitive yet precise - each piece of glass is cut, placed, and assembled like elements in a collage. Working with this medium is an ongoing negotiation between shape and color, seen through the ever-changing lens of transparency and illumination. Many modern and contemporary artists, often trained as painters, have turned to stained glass at key points in their careers - Henri Matisse, Pierre Soulages, and Gerhard Richter among them. Drawn by the medium’s unique ability to transform light into space and emotion, they pushed its boundaries in deeply personal ways. In this same spirit, Maria Vaiedelich continues to explore stained glass not only as a craft, but as a language of its own - one that resonates with both tradition and experimentation.
